If you own a swimming pool, keeping it clean will be an integral responsibility that you will have to meet. While cleaning the pool will be one of the most routine types of work that a person will have to do, it is common for some faulty assumptions to lead pool owners to make mistakes when caring for this important part of their property.

Assumption: Automated Pool Cleaning Systems Can Eliminate The Need For Manual Cleaning

In an effort to reduce the amount of time that they will have to spend on cleaning and maintaining their pools, individuals may invest in automated pool cleaning systems. While these systems can be reasonably effective at removing leaves and other larger pieces of debris, they will not be able to fully replace manual cleanings as they can miss a fairly large amount of debris depending on the path that they take through the water and the location of the debris in the water.

Assumption: Cleaning The Swimming Pool Only Involves Removing Leaves And Other Debris

When it comes to cleaning a swimming pool, individuals may assume that this will largely be limited to the need to remove leaves from the water. While removing leaves can be an important part of cleaning the pool, this is not the only type of cleaning that is required. For example, it is also necessary to periodically clean the walls and bottom of the pool. This can remove algae and other substances that may have started to accumulate on these surfaces. Not surprisingly, this can be a very demanding task to have to do, but there are swimming pool services that can handle this type of detailed cleaning of a swimming pool.

Assumption: The Pump Should Be Left On When Cleaning The Swimming Pool

As you are cleaning the pool, you may not always want to leave the pump on. This is especially true when removing leaves and other large debris from the water. If the pump is active while you are attempting to remove these items, there could be a high risk of them being pulled into the pumping system where they may cause mechanical failures and clogs. However, if you are scrubbing algae and other substances off the lining of the pool, leaving the pump on may help to filter these substances from the water so that they will not settle in a different area of the pool as this could lead to the algae quickly resuming growth.
